Aidan Cooney aka Boy Outside already had some clear imagery in his mind when he wrote River Runs To The Sea. He wanted pictures that captured the sense of loss, space and isolation that was present in the song. We ran with the theme of someone trying to find their way back to someone dear to them. Wandering through a vast landscape, they come to realise that person will be forever just out of reach.
We jumped in a car with a small crew and stills photographer and road-tripped out to Broken Hill. Without time for a location recce, we planned shoot locations online and spent two days filming in the incredible (and dry and hot) landscape of Broken Hill and Silverton. Square Fish got to all locations we could have hoped for and despite some narrow kangaroo misses on the drive home, couldn’t have been happier with the shoot.
